| Aluma 80 Ram is a chemically bonded high alumina
ramming mix with a moisture content of approximately 3%-5%. This high alumina mix can be rammed to a high density and have expansile properties up to 1400C which reduces the possibility of cracking and ensures a tightening of the lining at high temperatures. Aluma 80 Ram mix is designed for high temperature applications up to 1750C subjected to metal and slag attack, mechanical abrasion and thermal shock. It is particularly suited to higher temperature alloys i.e. special irons and steels. INSTALLATION Ram mixes are supplied in 25Kg polythene bags. The products are ready for direct use and are best rammed with a suitable peg ram head to the required thickness. If the thickness has to be built up it is essential that the surface is 'chopped-up' to allow additional material to bond. The final layer can be finished with a flat ram head. These products can be mixed with Aluma 80 Bonding Solution supplied in 6kg bottles to produce a more workable material. The chemical bond will enable the ramming to harden at ambient temperature but preheating which can be applied immediately after installation will enhance the bonding. It is beneficial to coat the finished refractory with Zircon Paint. Preheating of the rammed lining is necessary in order to remove any traces of residual moisture and to fully develop the chemical bond. |
